What did I tell you about dessert being great for breakfast? The Fabulous Baker Boy, a breakfast and brunch cafe, knows this and had been serving excellent cakes for over 10 years. As of this writing, they have 27 flavours.

Juwanda Hassim is a former theatre performer and the man behind the fabulous baker who makes cakes named after famous American music personalities and movies.

The Bitter Marmalade consists of buttermilk sponge sandwiching layers of marmalade and lemony cream cheese. It’s covered in puff pastry.

Ms Beyonce is a lemon and yogurt sponge layered with lemon emulsion, smothered in lemon frosting and topped with hand-piped buttercream rosettes.

America’s Queen of Soul Music Aretha Franklin is also immortalised in a spiced pumpkin sponge filled with cream cheese, and topped with crushed pretzels, spiced pecan bits, cornflakes and salted caramel.

Ice cream – the rich, frozen delight enjoyed by people for centuries. But with ice cream so common these days, it’s a challenge to make this frozen goodie more interesting and tasty than the Häagen-Dazs we can pick up from the store.
